Steve Piper, Founder, CEO & Chief Analyst 

Steve has over 25 years of high-tech marketing and product management experience and a solid track record of success. As CEO, Steve oversees LeadingEdge’s sales, marketing, and consulting operations while also serving as Chief Analyst for LeadingEdge’s custom research offerings. Over the years, Steve has won numerous professional awards from the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals (AMCP).

Before LeadingEdge, Steve led product marketing and product management at Sourcefire (acquired by Cisco), contributing to the company’s successful IPO and leadership position in the Gartner IPS Magic Quadrant. Prior to Sourcefire, he was head of marketing at Oblicore (acquired by CA) and was among the first 100 employees at Citrix. There he held multiple senior-level marketing roles, helping Citrix grow company revenue from $15 million to $600 million in just six years.

Steve has achieved a CISSP certification from (ISC)2 and has authored more than a dozen books on cyber security. A frequent speaker on security topics, Steve has earned BS and MBA degrees from George Mason University. When he’s not working, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, scuba diving, motorcycle riding, and playing in the World Series of Poker.

Andy Wiltsie, Director of Worldwide Sales

Andy is responsible for leading the sales effort for new business development at LeadingEdge, including demand generation, customer acquisition, and account management.

Andy is no stranger to the technology sector, with over 20 years of sales and business development experience. Prior to LeadingEdge, Andy was an Account Executive at Gartner for eight years, a National Account Manager at SANS for 10 years, and more recently served as an Enterprise Account Executive at (ISC)2.

When not working, Andy enjoys staying fit and is an avid runner. He also volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and Habitat for Humanity in his local community.

Theresa Ridgley

Theresa Ridgley, Director of Operations & Customer Success

Theresa manages the day-to-day business operations of the company and oversees client engagement with care. Theresa brings over a decade of experience in operations, marketing, human resources, and customer success to LeadingEdge.

Prior to joining LeadingEdge, Theresa was Director of Operations and Marketing at Integrata Security, a Baltimore-based cybersecurity solutions firm. And prior to Integrata Security, Theresa was Chief of Staff for OmniScience Technology Partners, a venture capital firm. In this role, she supported multiple fledgling startups, assisting with office space, recruiting, marketing, human resources, and other operational functions. Theresa particularly excels in helping organizations overcome challenges through business process improvement efforts and the implementation of sustainable change management practices.

Theresa holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in organizational leadership from Johns Hopkins University. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, instructing fitness classes, and collecting and caring for plants.

Jon Friedman, Managing Consultant & Senior Analyst

Jon has over 25 years of marketing experience with software, computer, and IT services companies. As a Managing Consultant at LeadingEdge, he oversees a variety of client projects featuring multiple LeadingEdge consultants, while also serving as the primary consultant for content creation, custom research, and publishing projects, as well. As a Senior Analyst, Jon is co-author of LeadingEdge’s award-winning Cyberthreat Defense Report and an available author of LeadingEdge survey reports and analyst reports.

Prior to LeadingEdge, Jon held a variety of product marketing, product management, and competitive analysis positions at both start-ups and global Fortune 500 companies, including Fiberlink Communications, Astaro, Nortel Networks, Wang Software, and Unisys.

Jon has spoken at security conferences and has been published in numerous IT industry periodicals. He contributes time to industry organizations, having served on the board of directors of Agile New England and the ASP Industry Consortium. He has a BA from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. When he’s not working, Jon enjoys spending time with his family and traveling, as well as reading historical novels.
